QR Code Printing: How to Keep It Scannable

Use strong contrast

Preserve the quiet zone
Do not place text, borders or images immediately against the code. The blank margin around it helps scanners recognise the pattern.
Do not redraw or distort the code
Stretching the QR non-proportionally or manually editing modules can damage the encoded structure.
Test the final destination
A perfectly printed QR is useless if the URL is wrong, expired or redirects unexpectedly. Scan the final PDF with more than one phone before approval.
A practical preflight before you send the file
Open the exported PDF and inspect it as though you were the printer receiving it for the first time. Confirm the page size, page count and orientation, then zoom into photographs, logos and small text. Check that backgrounds intended to reach the edge extend into bleed while important content stays inside the safe area. Verify all phone numbers, email addresses, prices, dates, licence information and QR destinations. If the piece will be folded or bound, confirm that panel order and binding margins match the production specification. Keep only one clearly named final file in the approval message. This simple preflight prevents many avoidable reprints and is especially valuable when the job has an urgent deadline.
What to send when requesting a quotation
For a useful quotation, send the finished size, paper or material, printing sides, quantity, finishing requirements, print-ready artwork if available, required date and delivery location. If any item is still undecided, explain how the printed piece will be used so a suitable specification can be suggested. For an urgent job, include the exact time by which the completed item must be collected or delivered. This avoids quoting a specification that cannot realistically meet the deadline.
QPS can flag obvious QR layout concerns, but the customer should test and approve the final destination.
